The local collection, correction, and maintenance of birth and death records are the responsibility of the Vital Records Office in the Health Dept., in cooperation with the State Office of Vital Statistics.

Certified copies of birth and death records may be purchased for those individuals who have been born or died in Indian River County. Birth records for the past several years are available by computer transfer for any Florida birth. Birth certificates are $10.00. Death Certificates are $12.00 each.  Fees and charges may vary based upon location and are subject to change without notice.

Statistical analyses are made of births and causes of death. Advise and assistance is offered to physicians, funeral directors, and the public regarding vital records.  If death occurs in another state, visit the CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics website to find out where to write for Vital Records.
